We all start somewhere...

Ever since I was young my dad has talked about real estate. From his time as a real estate agent, to working as a large-scale property manager, even to being a landlord of his own investment properties. It has consistently been a part of our lives.

I had never considered owning my own properties, until my first conversation with my dad. At the time I was working in a local restaurant, I had already graduated high school and had opted to not attend college. I was searching for answers of what to do next.

Our conversation was interesting and we talked off and on for a few months.
I was intrigued, but I was mostly scared. I wouldn’t be able to do it alone, and I didn’t know enough about investment properties, so I pushed it to the back of my mind.

The years continued and so did the conversations, but each time they went nowhere.

I moved restaurants and became a full time manager, and instead started filling my head with thoughts of opening my own place one day.

Fast forward to last November, when I made the decision to leave my management position to move to England. I wasn’t sure what I was doing, and again I was scared. I had to leave my family and friends, give up an incredible job, and finally face my fears.

I spent the next few months living with my Aunt in London, traveling Europe with my best friends and learning more about myself than I ever have before. And I know what you’re thinking, how does this connect to the business? Well, it does….

During my time abroad my conversations with my dad continued. Except this time things had changed, I was in between jobs, he was semi-retired and we were both looking for a brighter future. A plan started to come together.

By the time I arrived home we were ready to have our first official meeting. All our thoughts and ideas were finally laid out on paper. That morning over breakfast at the Broad Street Grind (it's a family favorite) we decided to start a business.

Over the following months we went through the motions of opening Lily B Properties, we spoke with banks, accountants, met with tenants, and joined DIG. I learned more in those months than I thought was possible, I took time to read, attend seminars, work one-on-one with my dad, and help with renovations at his rentals.

Now skip to today…
